No need of Regeneration of Data structure ..... whenever you add new characteristics to the data structure then only there is a need for regeneration of data structure.. in live system this is a dangerous step as it will fail the doucment postings during regeneration time...if the organization is big size it takes lot of time for regeneration please avoid this step.. for new GL adding it to the value field is enough.
